AR Rahman and Saira Banu, a couple who tied the knot in 5 and share three children together—Khatija, Rahima, and Ameen Rahman—have announced their separation. Their decision was shared with the public through a joint statement earlier this month. Despite announcement of their split, the details regarding the custody of their children remain undecided. Vandana Shah, Saira Banu's divorce lawyer, revealed in a conversation with Vicky Lalwani on his YouTube channel that the decision about whether the children will live with their mother or father has not been made. Shah pointed out that since some of their children are adults, they have the freedom to choose who they want to stay with.
The joint statement from the couple highlighted the painful decision to separate after many years of marriage. "After many years of marriage, Mrs Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband Mr AR Rahman. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time. Mrs Saira requests privacy and understanding from the public during this challenging time," it expressed. This statement conveyed their deep love for each other and the struggle they faced in making this decision. It also requested privacy from the public during this difficult period in their lives.
