Barroz First Review: Barroz is an upcoming Malayalam children's fantasy film that marks the directorial debut of the legendary actor Mohanlal. Written by Jijo Punnoose, based on his novel Barroz: Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure, the film promises to be a visual spectacle for audiences of all ages. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor of Aashirvad Cinemas, Barroz stars Mohanlal in the titular role, with a strong supporting cast including Maya, Cesar Lorente Raton, Kallirroi Tziafeta, Tuhin Menon, and Guru Somasundaram.
Filming for Barroz commenced in March 2021, but production faced multiple setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the film's story, screenplay, and cast underwent significant changes, with Mohanlal and T. K. Rajeev Kumar stepping in to revise the script and scenes. This led to the exit of Jijo Punnoose, who forfeited his credits. Production resumed in December 2021 and was completed by July 2022, with most of the shooting taking place in Kochi and Goa. Additionally, two songs were filmed in Bangkok and Chennai. Shot in 3D, Barroz promises to offer an immersive cinematic experience. The film is slated for release in April 2025.
