The Madras High Court has temporarily stopped awarding the Sangita Kalanidhi Award in M S Subbulakshmi’s name to T M Krishna. The court agreed with Subbulakshmi’s grandson, V Shrinivasan, citing her will and emphasising that honoring her legacy means respecting her wishes not to use her name. Subbulakshmi’s last will, executed on October 30, 1997, explicitly stated that no trust, foundation, or memorial should be created in her name or for her memory.
